Prelims GS Paper I Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 2) – (Number of Incorrect Responses × 0.66)
Prelims GS Paper II (CSAT) Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 2.5) – (Number of Incorrect Responses × 0.83)

The UPSC cut-off marks represent the minimum score required to advance to the subsequent stage of the examination. The 2026 cut-off for the Prelims, Mains, and Final rounds will be formally released on www.upsc.gov.in upon the announcement of final results.
What’s Next After UPSC Prelims Result 2026?
Qualified candidates whose roll numbers appear in the merit list must prepare for the Mains examination. Furthermore, successful candidates are required to submit their cadre preferences for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026 between June 19 and June 28, 2026. A fee of Rs. 200 applies, with exemptions for female, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates.
