UPSC 2026 Prelims Result Out

The UPSC CSE 2026 Prelims exam was held on May 24, 2026, across various centers nationwide. Out of approximately 5.49 lakh candidates who appeared, those featured in the merit list have now been shortlisted for the next stage of the selection process: the UPSC Mains examination.

A total of 13,343 candidates have successfully cleared the prelims and are shortlisted for the Mains, scheduled to commence on August 21, 2026, to fill 1,016 available vacancies.

1. Visit the official website of UPSC at www.upsc.gov.in.

UPSC Prelims Score Card and Marks

As per official guidelines, the final answer keys, individual marks, and category-wise cut-off scores for the 2026 examination will be uploaded on https://upsc.gov.in only after the conclusion of the entire Civil Services and Indian Forest Service examination process.

How to Calculate UPSC Prelims Marks?

UPSC scorecards for all stages will be available on the official website following the final results. The Prelims consist of two papers totaling 400 marks, while the Mains comprise nine papers worth 2,350 marks. Below is the standard formula used for calculating your Prelims score.

Prelims GS Paper I Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 2) – (Number of Incorrect Responses × 0.66)

Prelims GS Paper II (CSAT) Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 2.5) – (Number of Incorrect Responses × 0.83)

UPSC CCE Cut Off 2026

The UPSC cut-off marks represent the minimum score required to advance to the subsequent stage of the examination. The 2026 cut-off for the Prelims, Mains, and Final rounds will be formally released on www.upsc.gov.in upon the announcement of final results.

What’s Next After UPSC Prelims Result 2026?

Qualified candidates whose roll numbers appear in the merit list must prepare for the Mains examination. Furthermore, successful candidates are required to submit their cadre preferences for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2026 between June 19 and June 28, 2026. A fee of Rs. 200 applies, with exemptions for female, SC, ST, and PwBD candidates.
