Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for RRB Group D is determined by nationality, educational qualification, and age. Only candidates meeting the official RRB Group D Eligibility Criteria will proceed to the next stage. Note that CCAA-certified candidates are now explicitly eligible to apply under the Railway Group D CCAA recruitment guidelines.
Nationality
To be eligible, a candidate must be one of the following:
a. A citizen of India, or
b. A citizen of Nepal, or
c. A subject of Bhutan, or
d. A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement, or
e. A person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries, etc., to settle permanently in India.
f. Note: Candidates from categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) must possess a valid certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
Education Qualification
- Candidates with a 10th pass or ITI or equivalent or National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT are eligible to apply for the RRB Group D 2026 Exam.
- Candidates with Course Completed Act Apprentices/ITI for the post of Level-1 unless otherwise specified.
- Those awaiting the results of their final examination of the prescribed minimum educational/technical qualification are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates who have completed Course Complete Act Apprentices from any trade.

Steps to Apply for Railway RRB Group D Recruitment 2026
To register for the RRB Group D 2026 recruitment, please follow the step-by-step instructions provided in the official documentation.
- Visit the official website http://www.rrbcdg.gov.in/.
- Click on the ‘New Registration’ link.
- Register for the exam and submit the required details like name, date of birth and father’s name, mother’s name, Aadhaar Number, SSLC/Matric registration number, year of passing, mobile number, email ID and then submit the registration form.
- Upon registration, candidates need to verify their email ID and mobile number through OTP.
- Login on the home page using the registration number and password.
- In Part I of the application page, candidates had to provide the details of educational qualification, community, gender, religion, Ex-Servicemen, CCAA, Minority, Economically Backward Class Age Relaxation and other details.
- In Part II of the application page, candidates had to indicate his/her priority/preference for the posts.
- On completion of application details, candidates were redirected to the payment page using Online Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/UPI and Offline Challan.
- Candidates were required to choose the exam language.
- Candidates had to fill in the details of a valid photo ID card.
- Enter bank details to get the refund of fees.
- Candidates had to upload their scanned images of photographs and signatures as per the format and SC/ST candidates were required to upload the category certificates.
- Candidates had to agree to the terms and conditions and submit the application form.
Selection Process
The selection procedure for Group D posts consists of the following key stages:
- Computer-Based Test- CBT will assess your knowledge in various subjects like Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, and General Awareness.
- Physical Efficiency Test- PET is designed to evaluate your physical fitness and includes tests like running, long jump, and high jump.
- Medical Examination- A medical examination will also be conducted to assess your overall health and fitness for the job.
- Document Verification- To ensure that all the information provided in your application is accurate.
Exam Pattern
The Railway Administration may conduct the Computer Based Test (CBT) in single or multi-stage formats. Qualified candidates will proceed to the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination. Note: A negative marking of 1/3rd mark applies for each incorrect answer.
The minimum qualifying marks for shortlisting are 40% for UR/EWS categories, and 30% for OBC (Non-creamy layer), SC, and ST candidates.
