SEBI Grade A 2026 Overview & Selection Process
The recruitment process for the SEBI Grade A position is conducted entirely in online mode and comprises three rigorous stages:
- Phase-I Online Examination: Serves as a qualifying screening test, and its scores do not count toward the final merit list.
- Phase-II Online Examination: Assesses core and descriptive competencies.

SEBI Grade A Phase 1 Exam Pattern & Guidelines
Phase 1 carries a total of 200 marks divided equally between Paper 1 and Paper 2 (100 marks each). The marking scheme awards 1 mark for each correct answer and deducts 1/4th mark for each wrong answer. Paper 1 has a duration of 60 minutes (1 hour) and requires an aggregate cut-off of 40%. Paper 2 consists of Multiple-Choice Questions with a section-wise duration of 40 minutes.

SEBI Grade A Phase 2 Exam Pattern & Structure
Phase II also carries a total of 200 marks (Paper 1 and Paper 2, each 100 marks). Candidates must achieve a minimum aggregate cut-off of 50%. Paper 1 is descriptive in nature (English Test to test drafting skills) with a duration of 60 minutes (1 hour). Paper 2 consists of MCQs or a coding test (for IT), carrying a negative marking of 1/4th of the assigned marks for incorrect answers. The duration is 40 minutes for most streams and 180 minutes for Information Technology.
