The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jamshedpur will soon announce the official NIMCET 2026 exam date, which is tentatively scheduled for June 2026. The NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) is a premier national-level examination administered by the participating NITs. This annual entrance test serves as the gateway for graduates seeking admission into the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) program across various prestigious NIT campuses. Successful candidates are allotted seats based on their merit rank. While competition is intense—typically drawing over 50,000 applicants—there are approximately 805 seats available across 11 NITs nationwide. 

NIMCET 2026 Exam

NIT Jamshedpur is expected to publish the official NIMCET 2026 notification in May 2026, with the registration window likely opening by the final week of March 2026. Official updates and application portals will be hosted on the institute's website. NIMCET 2026 scores are mandated for admissions at 11 NITs including NIT Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, and Patna, as well as several other esteemed national institutions.

NIMCET 2026 Admit Card

NIT Jamshedpur will issue the NIMCET 2026 admit cards approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the examination date. Candidates who complete their registration can download their hall tickets from the official portal at www.nimcet.in using their registered application number and password. It is mandatory for all students to download and print their admit cards early, as entry to the exam hall will be strictly prohibited without valid documentation.

NIMCET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications	Those candidates must have any degree with mathematics/ statistics for a minimum of 3 years full time or B.E / B.Tech or some equivalent exam from a recognized University will be able to apply for the NIMCET 2026 examination. Candidates who have completed their B.Sc / B.Sc (Hons)/ BCA/ BIT for 3 years from Open Universities will also be able to apply for the examination.
Appearing	Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying exam will also be able to apply for the examination.
Minimum Marks Required	Indian National Applicants required to have attained at least 60% as aggregate or 6.5/10 CGPA and 55% marks or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC, ST will also be applied for the examination.

Steps to apply fill the NIMCET 2026 Application form

Step 2- Complete the initial registration using a valid, active email address and mobile number.

Step 3- Upon successful submission, a verification email will be sent to your registered address.

Step 4- Log in using your credentials to complete the detailed application form with the required personal and academic information.

Step 5- Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-sized photograph and signature as per the specified dimensions and formats.

Step 6- Proceed to the payment gateway to pay the requisite NIMCET 2026 application fee.

Step 7- Once the payment is confirmed, a final application form with a unique registration number will be generated.

Step 8- Download and print the completed form, then submit it along with necessary supporting documents via registered or speed post to the designated address.

NIMCET 2026 Exam Pattern

The NIMCET 2026 exam pattern will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) administered in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. The exam will be conducted exclusively in English.

1.  4 marks will be awarded for each correct answer.
2. -1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
3.  The question paper will be divided into 4 sections. Each section contains different marks sections.
