KAS Selection Process

The selection process for the Kerala Administrative Services 2024 (Streams 1, 2, and 3) consists of three rigorous stages: a Preliminary exam, a Main exam, and an Interview. The Prelims act as a screening test for the Mains, while the final merit list is determined by the cumulative scores from the Main exam and the final personality test.

Similar to other PSC competitive examinations, the Kerala PSC KAS selection process is structured into three distinct phases: two written examinations followed by a final interview.

1. Preliminary Exam: Objective type (MCQs) - 200 Marks

KAS Preliminary Exam Pattern 2024

• The KAS Prelims exam consists of mainly has 2 papers.

KAS Mains Exam Pattern 2024

• The main exam consists of 3 descriptive type papers.
• There is no negative marking for any wrong answer.
• The maximum marks that can be obtained are 300 marks.

Kerala PSC KAS Interview

The final stage is the personality assessment, carrying 50 marks. Only candidates who successfully qualify in the Main exam are eligible to participate in this interview round, which evaluates the candidate's mental acuity, leadership qualities, and suitability for administrative service.

The Kerala PSC KAS Preliminary Exam serves as a filter to shortlist candidates for the Mains. As prescribed by the Kerala Public Service Commission, the Prelims consist of two separate papers: Paper I and Paper II.

(i) Modern Indian History (18th century to present): significant events, personalities, and issues (ii) India’s struggle for independence (iii) 19th and 20th-century socio-religious reform movements (iv) Post-independence consolidation and reorganization (v) Independent India and its neighbors.

3) Kerala History (18th Century Onwards):

(i) Pre-Independence socio-political movements. Formation of Kerala State, political parties, governmental structures, landmark legislations, and policy developments.

B) History of the World (from mid 18th century)
