GPSC Engineering Service (Civil) Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates seeking to apply for these Engineering Service positions must verify their eligibility, specifically regarding educational qualifications, age restrictions, and other mandatory requirements.

Educational Qualification

• Candidates must have completed their Graduation in Engineering (Civil) or Technology (Civil) from a recognised university or incorporated under a Central or State Act of India or any other educational institution recognised or deemed as a University under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or having completed any equivalent qualification as approved by the Government.
• Those candidates who have appeared in the Bachelor’s degree final exam and are awaiting the results can appear for the Prelims exam. But they must submit the proof of passing their Graduation and application for the Mains exam while appearing for the Mains exam.

Age Limit

The age limit for applicants is set between 20 and 35 years. GPSC will determine age eligibility as of the application deadline, April 15, 2026. Age relaxation benefits are applicable to reserved category candidates as per government policy.

GPSC Gujarat Engineering Service (Civil) Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of a Preliminary test, followed by a Main examination and a final interview. Candidates will be ranked on the final merit list based on their combined performance in the Mains and the personal interview.

1. Prelims: This is a screening stage and shortlists candidates for the next stage. The Commission will shortlist 15 times the total vacancies for the Mains exam. Marks secured in this round will not be considered for final selection.
2. Mains: This the main stage of recruitment. Candidates have to write descriptive answers and have a total of five subjects.
3. Interview: Candidates shortlisted from the Mains stage will be called for an interview at the GPSC office. Candidates will be called 3 times the number of advertised vacancies.
