CTET Exam Syllabus 2026

  • CTET will be conducted in two phases: Paper 1 for Classes 1 to 5 and Paper 2 for Classes 6 to 8.

Includes two unseen passages (one prose/drama and one poem) featuring questions on comprehension, grammar, and verbal ability (Prose passages may be literary, scientific, narrative, or discursive).

b) Pedagogy of Language Development: 15 Questions

  1. Learning and acquisition
  2. Principles of language Teaching
  3. Role of listening and speaking; function of language and how children use it as a tool
  4. A critical perspective on the role of grammar in learning a language for communicating ideas verbally and in written form

5. Language 2 Syllabus (30 Questions)

a) Comprehension: 15 Questions

Two unseen prose passages (discursive, literary, narrative, or scientific) assessing comprehension, grammar, and linguistic proficiency.

b) Pedagogy of Language Development: 15 Questions

Note: The syllabus for the 'Pedagogy of Language Development' section remains identical for both selected languages.

Language 2 must be different from Language 1. Candidates choose two languages from the list of 20 available options. You cannot select the same language for both categories.
